Glynn Sudberry
Glynn Sudberry was a former Executive Director (President or State Chair)
of the Independent Precinct Organization (IPO) before IPO merged with IVI.
He met his partner long time IVI activist and employee Forbes Shepherd in
Glynn's hometown of New Orleans. Glynn returned to Chicago with Forbes
and brought his personal experience of 'Jim Crow' discrimination and a
delightful southern charm to be a effective leader in the Independent
political movement. Glynn was active in the Near North and North
lakefront chapters working for Dawn Netsch and Jim Houlihan among other
candidates.
Glynn later decided to devote himself to his community and became more
active in the growing Gay and Lesbian Rights movement. We honor
activist and leaders who like Glynn proudly identify with their community
and work hard in the continuing struggle for our rights. We lost Glynn
early in the HIV/AIDS epidemic. |
